🇨🇿 Finally Found the Wishing Well in Prague! ⛲️

I hopped on a RegioJet bus from Munich to Prague, and honestly, I was impressed! 🚌 The bus felt brand new, complete with chargers and working Wi-Fi. 🔋💻

📶 The “Lost Signal” Struggle

Just before crossing into Czechia, my signal vanished! 📵 I had to scramble to check if my data plan supported roaming. Pro-tip: I actually had to switch my network settings to T-Mobile / O2 to get back online. 📱🌐

🚋 Vintage Vibes & Pop Culture

Prague still runs those charming old tram models. 🚃 They felt so familiar! These PCC-style trams used to be popular all over the world, and seeing them here is like a blast from the past. 🏛️

Most Chinese travelers know Prague from Jolin Tsai’s famous song Prague Square (布拉格广场). 🎤 I’ll admit, I was a little disappointed at first—the huge square in front of the museum is currently under metro construction. 🚧🏗️

🍺 Groceries & “Herb Cola”

Albert is the go-to local supermarket here. 🛒 Fun fact: beer is actually cheaper than water! 🍺💧 I also made sure to pick up some JoJo gummy candies. 🍬

I also stopped by Lidl, which used to be an old bank vault! 🏦 There’s a massive lock kept as a memorial. I tried Kofola, the local “herb cola.” It tastes a bit like Dr. Pepper… 🥤🌿

Budget Tip: The exchange rate is roughly 25 CZK : 1 EUR (or 3:1 for RMB). Compared to the rest of Europe, Czechia feels much more affordable! 💰📉

🎭 The Legend vs. Reality

Old Town Square

I walked from Wenceslas Square (Václvské náměstí) to the Old Town Square. Everyone gathers at the Prague Astronomical Clock (Pražský orloj) for the puppet show when the clock strikes the hour. 🕒🐥

But here’s the kicker: There is no wishing well in the square! 😮 I was told the song lyrics were just written to rhyme—there’s no well, and no “white pigeons” either! 🕊️❌

🏰 Crossing the Vltava

Charles Bridge

I crossed the Charles Bridge (Karlův most), making sure to touch the sculptures for good luck. 🖐️✨ I moved from the Old Town into Malá Strana (Lesser Town). Honestly, the “Lesser Town Square” looks more like a parking lot than a square. 🅿️ And yep… still no wishing well. 🤷‍♂️

🗿 Art & Food

  • Franz Kafka Sculpture: This giant mirrored head rotates every hour. It’s mesmerizing! 🤖👤

The Hanging Men

  • The Hanging Men: On the way to the Dancing House, I spotted two sculptures of men hanging over the street. 🕴️ It’s a powerful metaphor for an unstable life. 🏗️
  • Kynute: I found these! They are basically Czech mantou. 🥟 Way tastier than regular bread! 😋

⛲️ The Discovery!

After crossing Most Legií, I visited the Lennon Wall and tried to see the famous “narrowest street” (sadly, it was closed). 🎨🚧

But then… I found it! The Wishing Well at the Kafka Museum! ⛲️✨ No wonder the lyrics say, “The view was too beautiful, I didn’t dare to look.” (那画面太美我不敢看). Success at last! 🎯

🏰 Castle Views

changing of guard

I started the climb up to Prague Castle. 🏰 Most of the main sights are free to walk through! Since the gardens are closed in February, there wasn’t too much walking, but I caught the Changing of the Guard. 💂‍♂️⚔️

The panorama of the city from up there is incredible, though it is a bit tricky for selfies! 📸🏙️

I visited the Golden Lane—I’m not sure why they charge for it during the day, but it’s free after 16:00, so I waited and explored it then. 🏠🔑

🛤️ Final Thoughts

station

Prague reminds me a lot of Qingdao. 🌊 The train station is a modest building because most of the infrastructure is hidden underground. 🚉 On my train out, they even offered free comic books to read! 📖🎈
